A little Witchy Catch-Up

Hey there, Witchie-Poos. I’m sorry its been so long since my last post. I’ve been dealing with a lot right now. Things have been super duper crazy.

Lets see, I’ve celebrated one nieces’ birthday….

And my own! Yay!!!! I turned 34, which is pretty awesome. 33 was my scary year and it honestly wasn’t very scary… I look forward to what 34 brings.

Fourth of July of course, rocked heavily.

I seriously love the Fourth!

Had my first rounds of fried green tomatoes and fried eggplant. Both were super yummy! I’m thinking my second round of fried green tomatoes will be happening today. As well as some spaghetti squash from my step-mother in law.

Got to take a few pics of the cutest little Mandrake ever.

And I got some pics taken myself… Which is highly unusual.

I’ve been enjoying my garden. My morning glories have finally started blooming, as well as my sunflowers.

We also said good bye to a very special piece of history here in Independence. A week or so ago, they tore down the Grand Stand at the stadium here in town. It was the last vestige of a grand time in baseball history. People sat in these stands and watched as history was being made when the first night game of professional baseball was held. They watched as Mickey Mantle worked his way to stardom, starting out at the bottom and working his way up.

And now it has been reduced to a pile of rubble.

A whole piece of history has been demolished.

I also celebrated another niece’s birthday…

And took advantage of having most of the cousins together (dirty feets and all).

I’m constructing a Doctor Who inspired lap rug. I’ve got five of twelve blocks done!

And soon… One of the hardest things of all… We’ll be missing my mother in law come August 10th. It doesn’t seem like she’s been gone long.

All in all, it’s been a great summer. The kids have grown leaps and bounds. My oldest minion is now as tall as I am and is still growing. I wish I could stop time. They are starting the 7th and 5th grades respectively in just a few short weeks.

That leaves just me. I honestly don’t know if I will continue blogging. It doesn’t seem like anyone reads my blog and I don’t know how to change that, really. Any help is appreciated.

I’ll be updating the indie list over the next few days and hope to have some reviews for you soon as my nails are in fabulous shape. I miss you, my wonderful Witchie-Poos!

In the life of The Good Witch

So I haven’t done this in awhile. Life has been busy and hectic with work and everything else. Summer break is upon us and now my little boy is hanging out with my sister for a month and my daughter and I are spending quality time together. So I’ve had other things on my plate. I hope you understand.
Not much has been going on around here. It’s been a really quiet storm season. As in we didn’t receive our first tornado warning in Kansas until I think yesterday or the day before. It had been a year. I mean c’mon!
The other night I did get a chance to watch some pretty awesome stormage come in.

Nothing better than setting up your camera on the sidewalk at midnight to stand out there for an hour because you thought the storm was coming faster than it really was.

I got a new hedgie!!! Meet Hermes. Isn’t he adorable?! And the ruby slippers and yellow brick road are cellphone charms!

My petunias are looking so gorgeous!

SO there’s a recap of the last few weeks. It’s been boring, to say the least!

Hello, Sweetie.

Yes, I just threw a Doctor Who phrase at ya! So sorry I’ve been neglectful of my blog, but expect awesome stuff coming in the next few days. Between work, home and my photography business I’ve been a woman running mad.

Two Thursdays ago, which was Halloween, my mom and I got to spend some special one-on-one time together. It was great. We jammed to music, drove around running errands and took some pretty fall foliage pictures.

The last few years have been kinda blah as far as fall in Kansas goes. We haven’t got a lot of rain during the most important times, so our leaves hardly changed at all last year. This year was a real treat. The whole town was alive with color during Neewollah and Halloween.

We also had a few errant rain showers to contend with, but it created some gorgeous little rain puddles on the leaves.

And the sun came out and shone for all it was worth

With a riot of colors, the photographer inside of me was jumping up and down with blissful abandonment.

You can’t beat oranges, yellows and reds like this…

Due to the excess rain we had, the Verdigris River was swollen and mad.

Day in the Life of The Witch: Neewollah Day 1

Today is the first day of Neewollah, our annual Halloween festival (and the only one in the country!) Last night they crowned Queen Neelah (our version of the Corn Queen or Butter Queen or what have you) and tonight the rides open and the food vendors are touting their wares.

My mom and I decided to go and see what they had to offer. So we bundled up and headed downtown.

We happened to park right next to a vendor selling pecan rolls. That was torture.

They had these super cute little pots in the window with bread dough in them. I think the flower pot loaves were about $5? If they weren’t jalapeno bread, I woulda jumped all over it.

The Neewollah flags were flying everywhere.

This gal was making cotton candy, but for $4 a bag I wasn’t going to bite.

Caramel apples *drool*

More Neewollah flags, and my favorite cheese-on-a-stick joint. Go there every year!

They also sell corndogs and nachos. But I can get corndogs from sonic and nachos from the gas station, so I wasn’t interested.

They batter and deep fry your cheese of choice right in front of you. I picked American.

And then you get this… An ooey gooey stick-o-yumminess that starts sliding down the stick after the first bite.

*drool*

Oh look… More caramel apples…

And grater taters covered in cheese.

You have to indulge in the prerequisite funnel cake.

Oh and get a caramel apple after they taunt you.

My mom begged and made me get her a pecan roll.

And I enjoyed my caramel apple.
