Polish Review: Pahlish

I have the second half (minus the duo which I didn’t get my hands on in time! GRR) of Pahlish’s All of Time and Space collection on the blog today. I really hope they don’t come out with another part to this collection, cause I can’t afford anymore LOL

I have a thing for Pahlish’s…. Polishes? Seriously… They need to quit coming up with these.

First up is Crimson, Eleven, Delight, Petrichor. What is this you ask? It mirrors Idris, the TARDIS’ Matrix telepathic password and Amy Pond’s Petrichor fragrance advertisement.

DSC_0024

Crimson, Eleven, Delight, Petrichor is listed as a “Delicate creamy pink base with a mix of neon coral, neon pink, watermelon, and fuchsia glitters in a mix of matte and metallic with an accent of shimmery red flakes”

DSC_0025

This baby is a stunner, that’s for sure. It goes on opaque in two coats. You do have to smooth it out a bit, but it’s truly a gorgeously designed crelly.

DSC_0344

Isn’t it beautiful?!

DSC_0347

tumblr_lxtc0xXfy11qll2l1o1_500

Next up is Cross My Hearts.

DSC_0028

Pahlish lists Cross My Hearts as a “Oxblood red jelly with red metallic and iridescent violet flakes along with a subtle warm purple shimmer” and for some reason I nearly swooned when I read this description LOL.

DSC_0029

It’s a stunner, even in the bottle.

DSC_0348

Opaque in just two coats, it is a bit rough, so a good leveling topcoat is in order.

DSC_0355

But it’s still so pretty!

tumblr_mhprq8DvAw1rsm741o1_250

Next up is My Bespoke Psychopath.

DSC_0035

Designed with my favorite Who character River Song in mind, My Bespoke Psychopath is listed as a “Rich purple jelly with a strong liner holographic finish with an accent of rich red metallic flakes.”

DSC_0036

DSC_0359

My Bespoke Psychopath is such a beautiful polish, opaque in two coats with such a strong holo to it that it’s seriously stunning!

DSC_0030

Next up is Raggedy Man, Good Night. Listed as a “Very dark charcoal (almost black) holographic finish with a mix of rich copper shimmer and violet iridescent flakes” Raggedy Man does not disappoint.

DSC_0031

DSC_0366

Even on my short little nubbins it looks fabulous.

DSC_0368

DSC_0369

The holo in this one is spectacular.

Next up is The Oldest Question…

DSC_0032

Listed as a “Neutral grey jelly with a mix of metallic copper hex and gold circles set against a rich coppery shimmer” I was kind of on the fence about The Oldest Question. I’m not much of a grey fan…

DSC_0034

Then I got it and I was like hmmm… Not TOO horribly bad.

DSC_0372

Then I put it on and I was instantly in love. It’s such an unassuming polish and it quickly became my favorite of the collection.

DSC_0374

tumblr_mo8wb3nSSU1sn6s52o1_500

Lastly I have The Song Is Ending…

DSC_0026

Listed as a “Rich turquoise cream with soft red metallic shimmer”, I figured The Song is Ending would be my favorite. But honestly… It fell pretty flat for me.

DSC_0027

In the bottle it looks fabulous, don’t get me wrong. But the polish didn’t translate well onto the nail.

DSC_0379

You can barely see the “red” shimmer, which seemed more of a copper to me.

DSC_0380

I’m just kind of meh about this color. Kinda sad, eh?

All in all, these are gorgeous polishes and a truly awesome addition to any polish/Whovian collection.

You can buy them and the other Part One polishes at Pahlish’s big cartel store.

Polish Review: LynBDesigns

I have yet another LynBDesigns review up for you.

I love Jenna’s polishes, and I try to take advantage of every sale she has when I have the money. She recently had one, so I had to jump at the chance and I wasn’t disappointed in the slightest.

DSC_0003

Jenna lists My Bespoke Psychopath as: “A bluey purple jelly base with all sorts of purple glitters, even purple metallic shreds.”

DSC_0005

It’s a stunner, even in the bottle!

DSC_0268

I used three coats to reach opacity and came out with a gorgeous jelly sandwich.

DSC_0266

I mean, what could be more perfect than that??!

DSC_0263

Well, hello, sweetie.

DSC_0006

Next up is Dalekanium, a black crème polish with tons of gold glitter. And let me tell you what, it’s hard as all get out to get it to photograph correctly.

DSC_0007

I could get it to photograph well in the bottle, but that’s quite a different story when trying to get it to translate on the nail.

DSC_0249

This is two coats of Dalekanium, when I really only needed one. This is a very pigmented polish, which I absolutely adore.

DSC_0257

As I said, it’s kind of hard to get the shimmer on camera, but I think I did a pretty good job of it.

DSC_0001

Last but not least, is Dianthus Redux, a recreation of one of Jenna’s very first polishes that was a gift with purchase during the sale I got in on. It is NOT a disappointment, that’s for sure.

DSC_0002

Dianthus Redux is a beautiful blend of all different shape and sized pink glitters swimming in a maroon jelly base.

DSC_0273

Opaque in two coats, this polish is simply stunning.

DSC_0274

I have yet to find a polish of Jenna’s that I don’t like. They’re all high quality polishes made with high quality materials. The fact that Jenna has a keen eye for color choices and design help a ton too.

You can buy Dalekanium and My Bespoke Psychopath at her Etsy store. She is considering adding Dianthus Redux back to the regular lineup, so make sure you like her Facebook page to get updates on it and any notice of the awesome sales she frequently has.

Polish Review: Pahlish’s Doctor Who All of Time and Space Collection (partial) Review

I couldn’t justify spending an insane amount of money all at once for nail polish. So… What would any respecting Whoovian girl do when Pahlish was releasing their first installment of their All of Time and Space collection? Why she buys a few at a time, duh!

I started off with Mad Man with a Box:

I have to say that when I started watching Doctor Who, I only had Netflix to go on. So I got attached (and attracted to) Christopher Eccleston’s Doctor. And then I liked David Tennant’s Doctor, but I had a hard time getting used to him because of the whole Harry Potter/Barty Crouch Jr/tongue flicking thing. Then Matt Smith came along with his bumbling, highly hyperactive and insanely sweet Doctor and I fell again.

And he was certainly a mad man with a box.

SONY DSC

Pahlish lists MMWAB as “a smoky navy blue jelly loaded with metallic gold flakes and blue glass-fleck shimmer”.

SONY DSC

What they don’t say is that you’ll squee as soon as you open it.

SONY DSC

And then squee some more when you look at your swatch pictures of it.

SONY DSC

Or die of pure excitement when you put it on (three coats with three coats of HK Girl and it STILL sucked up the TC, so be sure to use something like Glitterfood or Gelous!).

Or that it stained your skin blue like you finger-punched a Smurf when you took it off… But that’s a small price to pay for such a gorgeous polish.

SONY DSC

Here it is paired with The Ghost Shift.

SONY DSC

Some more gratuitous close up shots.

SONY DSC

I can’t help it! I couldn’t put my camera down!

The polish I paired with MMWAB is The Ghost Shift, a polish that Pahlish states mimics the gunmetal color of the Cybermen’s armor.

SONY DSC

It’s a dark greyish silver holographic with a purple shift to it.

SONY DSC

You can’t see the holo in this picture cause it was taken indoors…

SONY DSC

But ehrmergerd look at this!!!

SONY DSC

And this! Surprised smile

SONY DSC

And BOOM!

SONY DSC

OH MY GOD IT’S SO SPARKLY!!! I’M GONNA DIE!!!!!!!!!!!!! Surprised smile

OK… Phew… Ok… I think I’m better now.

The next half of the polishes came from last week or the week before that’s restock… I put family game night on hold for 15 minutes while I relentlessly stalked the shops website until it loaded.

tumblr_mxyyopZBdu1s6wq07o4_250

The next is So Not Married!, dedicated to Donna’s frustration with being considered as the Doctor’s romantic companion instead of just regular companion.

SONY DSC

Pahlish lists it as a “Deep black jelly base packed with intense red shimmer and rich gold flake” polish.

SONY DSC

Again, they fail to mention it’s a heart attack in a bottle.

SONY DSC

This one doesn’t seem to have the same top coat sucking capacity as MMWAB.

SONY DSC

SONY DSC

And when outside it just sparkles like mad.

SONY DSC

I also purchased Bad Wolf, but that’s a friends’ birthday present, so I didn’t feel right swatching it… Although I really wanted to… So she better know how much I love her LOL.

The other two polished I purchased were the two in Pahlish’s January One Last Bow Duo…

SONY DSC

Eleven’s Hour is Over Now is listed as a “dark charcoal grey jelly packed with iridescent flakes in a rainbow of colors accented by soft silvery shimmer” polish.

SONY DSC

It is a sleeper-stunner.

The Clock is Striking Twelve’s is next…

SONY DSC

Pahlish lists it as a “clear topcoat with a mix of gunmetal and holographic gunmetal glitters accented by small black hex and small matte gray squares with a dose of iridescent rainbow flakes”.

SONY DSC

I paired it with Eleven’s…

SONY DSC

SONY DSC

And it is sooo beautiful.

But it was a heavy heart that I put this polish on. I have a hard time coming to terms with the Matt Smith’s Doctor’s demise and I have an even harder time dealing with the new Doctor. Peter Capaldi has some mighty large shoes to fill.

I totally look forward to seeing the next installment of Pahlish’s All of Time and Space collection. I can only imagine how wonderful they will be!

You can purchase these and other polishes (when they’re in stock) at Pahlish’s website.
