Phew.

What a night. Three, now four blog posts? Well this one won’t be about polishes.

I am so sorry I’ve been absent for awhile. It’s been a pretty hectic time and honestly, I haven’t been feeling my best- both mentally and physically. I keep having a reoccurring allergy/sinus issue that’s about to drive me insane and I keep feeling my depression trying to claw into my psyche and take root.

Plus we’ve had a lot of family things going on, like my son’s 12th birthday…

It’s so hard for me to come to terms with the fact that he’ll be a teenager in one short year. He’s still my baby… But as I stood next to him last night and noticed that he now comes up to the middle of the bridge of my nose, the realization hit me and hit me hard… He’s not my little boy anymore. He’s growing into a very sweet, very good natured young man. And I couldn’t be anymore proud.

And I got to get him Sea Monkies. I think I was more excited than he was.

Anyways. I finally got out of the house this weekend and enjoyed the wonderful fall weather we’re experiencing here with a couple sessions thrown in. As always, before my sessions, I had to take pictures of the flowers and fauna around.

Not real sure what kind of flower this is, but the fuchsia petals are just amazing. They’re so vivid and look so fragile. The smell of them is intoxicating.

These little purple beauties were winking everywhere.

Zinnia’s were of course, blooming everywhere. A prerequisite fall flower of the Midwest, they never fail to make me smile with their bright and cheery blooms.

Little rosebuds are still hanging on for dear life even though it’s been dropping into the lower forties at night.

I want to say this is lavender, but I know I’m probably wrong. Either way, the blooms are so dainty and delicate.

Even bark is picturesque right now.

I caught this migrating beauty midflight. I had been hoping I’d see one at the park and capture it on camera. They’ve been flying in droves all around town on their migratory path. That’s when you really know that fall is right around the corner in Kansas.

Ahhh! There we go. Finally got it to land for a second before flying off again.

So do you remember me mentioning the frozen children in my Day in the Life of the Good Witch post… Well they’ve added another frozen child (and dog) and a frozen adult. So at least the frozen children aren’t playing unattended. Not sure what fixation my town has with bronze statues of frozen children and other items…

She carries a basket of frozen daisies as well…..

So beyond frozen children and adults, depression, family issues and what not… yesterday reminded me that I hadn’t been stopping to enjoy life, to smell the roses, to look around with rose colored glasses and enjoy… Well everything. OK, so maybe my outlook is a little skewed because of my new job *g* but why shouldn’t it be? Things are looking up- finally.

One last thing I want to leave you with…. Always enjoy and relish the unexpected… Whether it be an unexpected phone call, email or note… An unexpected hug from your child or your significant other…. Or an unexpected happy accident that just happened to happen right at the right time… Soak it all in and appreciate every second.

I sign off with a totally unexpected happy accident I took yesterday. Somehow my camera got switched over to manual focus mode and I took this slightly skewed, partially out of focus, bokeh heavy picture. And to me, it’s breathtaking.

Have a great week, Witchie Poos!
