Polish Review: Bella Bosio

A year or so ago, I was doing a little get-to-know the designer segment in my blog and for some reason I quit doing it. Not sure why. So I’m implementing it again.

Today I have the owner and creator of Bella Bosio here for a little Q&A (and then her LOVELY polishes follow after).

The Good Witch: What are your favorite sources for inspiration?

Sheila: Myself and ideas I get in my head.

The Good Witch: Where does your creativity stem from to allow you to come up with an array of colors and possibilities?

Sheila: I have been playing with nail art as my form of creativity and art so decided I should make some.

The Good Witch: What do you love about making polish?

Sheila: There is nothing like creating something beautiful knowing I did it and seeing the end product as well as others really liking it.

The Good Witch: If someone copies one of your polishes, is that flattering or insulting?

Sheila: I think it would be flattering but depends on circumstance

The Good Witch: I love glitter and that's a major trend. Hate the new possibly not even a fad bubble gel nails it's hideous.

Sheila: I do have many things brewing I'm working on a pastel color line that will only be a limited edition for a few months this will be available in the next few weeks and I'm working on some beautiful fall colors, these are all not solid glitter but are colors with some sparkle in it.

The Good Witch: Lastly, what type of base coat do you use or suggest? As well as top coat?

Sheila: I have been using starting over after acrylics for a little while and this made and keeps my nails very strong and healthy. Tops coats I actually use 2 it's a technique I have to help make my manicure last more than a week and that's with regular polish, Sally Hansen complete ultra wear it's a super slow drying one and then the 60 second quick dry in red bottle called insta Dri.

First up I have Cobalt Sparkle. It is chock full of gorgeous cobalt blue glitter. I LOVE it.

DSC_0245

A little out of focus eye candy.

DSC_0279

A little more in focus, and so gorgeous.

DSC_0346

Indoor lighting. It took 2-3 coats to reach opacity and may have been able to put one more coat on the ring finger. (Ring finger is mattified)

DSC_0347

Topped with a A Girl Obsessed’s Magpie Shine and it’s so freaking smooth. Dries in no time at all. Even without a topcoat it dries to an almost mirror-like finish.

DSC_0351

One spare coat over black.

DSC_0353

Mattefied and still gorgeous. I love a nice, dense glitter turned matte.

DSC_0357

Shining bright like a diamond in the sunlight. It’s stunning!

DSC_0226

Next up is Lavender Passion, a beautiful fuchsia glitter.

DSC_0250

I love bokeh’d glitter. Ugh!

DSC_0285

A little more in focus. *drool*

DSC_0372

Again, ring finger is matte. (Indoor lighting)

DSC_0376

Two coats and a coat of Magpie Shine.

DSC_0380

One coat over black.

DSC_0384

Matte and so gorgeous!

DSC_0386

Oh so luscious in the sun!

Now on to my favorite. I can see myself wearing this multiple times this fall.

DSC_0229

Roses are Gold is a beautiful rose gold polish. Like I said, this beauty will be fantastic this fall.

DSC_0280

DSC_0407

Indoor lighting and it’s just amazing. The indoor pictures don’t do it a bit of justice.

DSC_0420

Super shimmery it completely freaked my camera out lol.

DSC_0423

Even over black it’s like OMG. I have the perfect shirt that I’m going to wear this with.

DSC_0426

Matte is just as breathtaking!

DSC_0433

*mumbles incoherently* look at that sparkle!!!!!

Bella Bosio, completely 5-Free polishes are in the high priced range of my scale. Yes, they’re $14-$15 each, but they’re so worth it it’s ridiculous. You can find them in her Etsy shop and I greatly urge you to try them out! You will not be disappointed. Also make sure to stop by her Facebook page, show her some love and tell her the Good Witch sent ya!

Polish Review: Polished Nail Lacquer by EclecticGirls

Hello there my lovelies! I hope this post finds you well and rested after a long weekend! I’m gearing up for my minions to head back to school… I think mama’s more excited than they are!

Today I have a gorgeous polish review for your viewing pleasure.

DSC_0004

Here is Circe the Witch by EclecticGirls. A part of their Maidens of Myth series, Circe the Witch is listed as a “deep plum with a surprise of mixed holo glitters and shapes”.

DSC_0006

And it really does not disappoint. This is a very multi-faceted polish which I adore. Circe is crème based, with tons of iridescent holo glitters in a variety of colors. Blue carries out the most which is a gorgeous juxtaposition to the deep plum of the polish. There’s also, like it is stated, a multitude of different shaped glitters including squares, bars and the occasional star. I did have to fish for the star glitter, but it was worth it.

DSC_0038

This is two coats of Circe the Witch with topcoat (indoor lighting) and it’s a stunner even here.

DSC_0045

It goes on flawlessly, the glitters for the most part, lay flat and have no snag problems.

DSC_0064

It seriously, seriously shines in the sunlight though. I really wish I could have captured the shimmer better!

I have to say I was pleasantly surprised by this polish. It doesn’t stink to high heaven. Dry time is quite short (which is one of the most important things to me) and it settles really nicely with a thin coat of topcoat.

The wonderful gals over at EclecticGirls also sent me a sample of their Nail Cocktails in Hot Buttered Rum… And let me tell you… I’m HOOKED.

DSC_0024

DSC_0029

DSC_0030

Just add a tiny bit to a bowl of warm water and watch as it’s transformed to a foamy, frothy, glittery mess of smelly goodness.

DSC_0033

Sink your digits into the liquid and rest for 10-15 minutes. Not only does it whiten your nails, it also hydrates and softens.

DSC_0034

Like I said, I’m completely in love with this stuff. I cannot wait for them to release their fall scents.

All in all, I am thoroughly surprised and pleased with the EclecticGirls’ goods. Circe the Witch, and the other polishes in the collection (which I am gonna have to get soon!) and others range from $5 to $7, which lands EcelcticGirls in the low to mid price range on their polishes. Their hand fizzies are just as affordable at just $2 for a pouch of their awesome concoction.

You can find these items and more at their Etsy store. Make sure to also show them some love on Instagram: @Eclecticgirls1010 and tell them The Good Witch sent ya!

Tutorial Tuesday: Fourth of July/Patriotic Nail Tutorial

Ugh it’s been so long since I’ve done any kind of nail art. Lately I’ve been just slapping on a couple of coats of color and a topcoat and calling it good. It’s kinda nice to be stretching my creative muscles and putting out a tutorial for you guys!

Supplies You’ll Need:

DSC_0104

Basecoat of your choice: I’m using LynBDesigns’ BSticky; Topcoat of your choice: I’m using LynBDesigns BShiny (my go-to high shine topcoat right now I LOVE IT!); accent nail color: I’m using Kawaii Nail Lacquer’s Stars and Dots’'; (this item is optional!) a clean up product: I’m using Cinema Swatch Lacquer’s That’s A Wrap!; and a red, white and blue polish each. I’m using Zoya Purity, OPI Color So Hot It Berns and China Glaze’s Frostbite. You’ll also need some foam cosmetic sponges, acetone for cleanup and a pair of tweezers to remove the That’s A Wrap if you use it. Also: Not shown… A sparkly topcoat to give you a little sparkle. I used China Glaze’s Fairy something or another. I can’t remember LOL

DSC_0105

Step one: Put down a couple of base coats of your white, plus your accent nail. Let dry.

DSC_0107

Step Two: Cover up the skin surrounding your nail with That’s A Wrap. I had to use a regular brush as the brush that is included is a little skinny and it drives me nuts LOL.

DSC_0108

Step Three: Using your cosmetic sponge, apply your gradient, making sure to place the paint where you want it on the nail. I started off with blue, then white, then red so the red would be at the end of my nail.

DSC_0109

Step Four: Commence making a huge mess all over your nails.

DSC_0110

Step Five: Peel off That’s A Wrap and do any spot-cleanup that might be necessary.

DSC_0112

Step Six: Add your sparkly topcoat and topcoat and allow to dry.

DSC_0115

And BOOM! You’ve got nails ready for a hot night of Fourth of July fun! This will also work on short nails, just be careful not to use huge strokes of color on the sponge!

DSC_0126

Playing with my new macro lens… I really need to fuss with it more. Cause I suck at using it LOL.

Polish Review: Sidgra Nail Lacquer Popple

Among the Rainbow Brites, Cabbage Patch dolls and My Little Ponies, Popples have held a special place in my heart as one of my favorite toys of the 80’s. I had several, as did my sister and they were some of our most prized toys.

They were bright and colorful, always cheerful and a great place to hide some of your smaller special objects you didn’t want a pesky sibling to find. Mine always slept in bed with me and were carried around and played with continuously until I decided at 14, I was too big to play with stuffed animals anymore. Therefore, my beloveds were stashed away in my toy box in my closet and are now in storage.

But tonight I bring you a bright flash of the 80’s back in Sidgra’s Popple polish. A beautiful matte neon glitter topper!

DSC_0272

Chock full of medium and micro matte hex glitters in yellow, pink, purple and blue, Popple is definitely reminiscent of my favorite toys!

DSC_0279

Doesn’t it remind you of Debbie Gibson, jellie sandals, LA Gears and Jordache jeans?! So 80’s and I loooove it!!!

DSC_0344

Here I’m paring Popple with Conjured by Amanda Wampler’s Warning and it’s a perfect pairing. I honestly couldn’t imagine wearing this polish with anything else! lol

DSC_0348

It really accentuates the glitters and helps them pop!

DSC_0352

Friday while we were out garage sailing, my mom just happened to find this Popple wall hanging, which also happens to be the big Popple that I had growing up! How cool is that?!

Sidgra has an awesome 5-free formula that makes the polish glide on smooth as silk and dries phenomenally fast.

You can find Popple, and other fabulous polishes at Sidgra’s website. Make sure to like her on facebook and also follow her on Pinterest. She shows a lot of her polishes in action on Pinterest!
